Hoping for a productive day.

Despite the fact that the kids have the day off from school, I am hoping to have at least a semi-productive afternoon.  I plan on doing some painting, some scratch-building, taking some pics, moving more junk in the basement, and putting more things up on Bartertown.

Adepticon is coming up - only 85 days or so, and I have a lot of stuff to paint.  On the docket for today - Revenant crew and mechanithralls, plus doing the base work for as many things as possible.  I am also trying a new paint scheme for my helljacks, and I will post a pic later tonight for criticism.

Yay, more stuff!

A couple of packages arrived for me today, as some trades finally hit their final destination.  It's not a huge lot (though some of my Tau are up on the trading block), but I gained Darius and his halfjacks, Stryker, Haley, Rengrave, First Mate Hawk and a Boneswarm.

The boneswarm I should have painted in a couple of days, but it won't be enough to avoid using my Get Out Of Painting Free Card for the month, so I need to hustle and put some paint on my brushes, and get to work.

My current wishlist is still something like 1265 figures, but my collection is getting close to passing the 800 mark.  By the end of the year, I hope that my collection is bigger than my wishlist - possible, if Colossals only has a few models in it, and I make some decent trades.  And find some decent deals at GenCon.  Or, come to my senses, and pare everything down to only 2 or 3 factions, and trade off everything extra.

I'm currently scheduled to get some games in tomorrow - not sure what I am taking yet.  For various and sundry reasons, I will probably only wind up taking one faction, but I'll probably have two or three armies in mind when I show up, and just randomize between them or something.

Trade post

Clearing out some old terrain projects:

They are based on cork, and the cork has been sealed with glue. (Never tried it before, so I cannot vouch for it's long-term durability, but it has worked so far.) The pyramids are hollow, which helps keep them lighter, but it does mean that you can punch through the cork on the underside if you don't use some care. (Yes, the tower on the right is a little crooked - it slipped a little before the glue set.)

Anyway, they were made using the Hirst Arts mold and cast in Ultracal 30. The fig is intended for sense of scale, and not included.

I also have a Wizard Tower:

I made this years ago for a game store, where it was used and abused. I eventually got it back and fixed it up. It's been reglued a couple of times, and needs a better paint job. I'll toss in some extra bricks as part of the trade on this one, just in case it needs repair in the future. It was also made with Ultracal 30, and the fig is for scale, but not included. (Both roof pieces are removable, but I do not have pics of it with those off.)

I am looking for either trade for Warmachine or Hordes figs, although I will sell them instead. My current WM/H omnibus wishlist can be viewed at:
http://armyaltaholic.blogspot.com/2012/ ... rt-ii.html

Items in red have been acquired since the list was made. If you have something not on that wishlist, LMK - I have only one of a lot of units that are FA:2 (or more), and could always use multiples of non-character jacks or beasts. Not interested in casters who are not on the list, however.

I might also accept Heavy Gear figs, or items from Spartan Games (Uncharted Seas, Firestorm Armada, Dystopian Wars).

Holy wishlist, Batman!

I finally got around to making the inverse of my collection - the Wishlist. It won't take everything to the theoretical maximum (eg - not only does it not list an infinite number of 'jacks, I really do not want another unit of Retribution Halberdiers right now), but it does a decent job of covering jacks that I do not yet have, and units that I want to get. If a unit is in there, I maxed it out, and I also included figs where I still need a couple to hit the maximum unit size.

It's not as bad as it could be, I guess. A mere 1318 figures (from the last iBodger update) and I would be happy. Since I only have 722 figs, it does represent a near-trebling of what I currently have. While I won't catch up anytime soon, I hope to keep that 1:2 ratio for the rest of the year (curse you, new releases!), and possibly even catch up a bit.

To that end, I might be dumping off my Tau when the (rumored) 6th edition of 40k comes out. I have heard that Tau do quite well under the new rules, so my Tau army will (hopefully) command a high trade value. It's a good-sized force - lots of crisis suits, six devilfish, three hammerheads, plenty of fire warriors. With any luck, and some patience, I should be able to really cut into the wishlist.

Terrain for trade

Not sure how much traffic I really get, but meh - I think I will establish a trade category now anyway, just for future use.

I made this stuff for a game store some time ago. Unfortunately, most of his current customers are CCG players, so it has come back to me. I don't want it in the basement, so it's coming here. If you need additional pics, let me know.

I have a fairly ridiculous amount of the hills – probably several hundred, if I included ones which are not yet finished. All the Hirst arts stuff was poured using ultracal 30. I made this as a fairly quick project, so some pieces may have bubbles visible.

The buildings I can generally sell for $30 USD or so, the dungeon $60 USD to $75, and the other stuff about $5 USD each (the hills for a bit less, depending on how big they are). If you don't like those prices – make a counter offer.

I am looking for cash (most versatile), but would consider trades for Warmahordes figs (just lmk what you have), Heavy Gear (especially Arena or 2-player stater), 40k or WFB forces (mainly interested in NIB, but you never know – LMK what you have!), 15mm DBA armies (pref. Essex), or Hail Caesar! Heck, I might take ACW, 15mm Nappies, Nappy naval, etc. .

Random post

So, over the past couple of days, I have been thinking about this post, over at Iron Kingdoms at War. I pretty much agree with the whole thing - on the whole, I can think of many games I would rather play than 40k or WFB, but there is also no denying that it is often the only non-historical (war)game in town. So, since I must sometimes play 40k or WFB with people before I can convince them to play Warmahordes, I should probably keep somewhat up on the rules and maintain a small army.

But that doesn't mean that I need 4 separate 40k armies. Right now, I have Tau, I have Orks, I have Marines (who doesn't, right?), and I have Imperial Guard. Over on Bartertown, I thought I might have a trade going - all of my Tau for a pretty nice chunk of Menoth, enough that, while I would be missing some units (Cleansers, Cinerators, Bastions), and would have duplicates of a couple of casters, it was certainly a good deal for me. (And for the other party - I believe it was something like $750, in War Store prices, for the Menoth, and well over $1250 base retail for the Tau.)

It's been a couple of days though, and my initial excitement at getting rid of some GW, and turning Menoth from suddenly my third or fourth largest Warmachine army to my largest overnight has somewhat evaporated in the waiting process. (Never fear - I'm still committed to the deal, if the other party is as well.) If the deal falls through, I may keep my Tau, since I still have the current codex, and it's pretty playable, in theory. But my Guard Tank army isn't, since I lack the current codex. Maybe I should peel off half a dozen tanks or so, and see what kind of Warmahordes stuff I could get for them.
